Frequently Answered Questions

What does the AC rating mean, and what grade should I choose for Uganda?

The AC (Abrasion Class) rating measures wear resistance from AC1 to AC5. Chalista exclusively supplies AC4 (Heavy Residential / General Commercial) and AC5 (Heavy Commercial) laminate boards, ensuring superior scratch resistance in busy Ugandan homes and offices.

Is laminate flooring waterproof?

Standard laminate is water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Premium modern laminate boards feature paraffin wax-sealed edges and moisture-resistant HDF cores that provide up to 72 hours of topical spill protection. For constantly wet zones like bathrooms, we recommend 100% waterproof SPC rigid-core flooring.

How does laminate compare to solid wood and vinyl flooring?

Laminate provides authentic hardwood timber aesthetics at roughly one-third the cost of solid timber. It is harder and more scratch-resistant than hardwood, making it less prone to scuffing from shoes or pets. Compared to flexible vinyl, laminate feels firmer and more substantial underfoot.

Can Chalista install laminate flooring I imported or bought elsewhere?

Yes. Our Underfoot Guarantee covers professional fitting for materials sourced from other importers or international suppliers. Our master installers ensure proper expansion gaps, level subfloors, and flawless click-lock assembly.
